Moonchild Sanelly has a bone to pick with the government on how life’s been like under lockdown and on Covivi, the musician digs deep to give fans her perspective.

Except, the nuances of this ‘heavy’ subject get lost in the up-beat Amapiano instrumental laced by Sad Night Dynamite, a UK-based duo that popped up on urban South Africa’s radar from their collaboration with Sanelly on Demon.

Moonchild Sanelly delivers hard-hitting new single

On her latest single, Sanelly channels the frustrations felt by many South Africans who, for more than 18 months, have been confined to lockdown regulations that limit social gatherings and human interaction.

The chorus of the song is a plea for ‘Covivi’ to loosen the shackles and let the people experience their birthright freedoms. Not much else takes place on this single, from a lyrical perspective.

Alas, the Amapiano drums matched with Sanelly’s commanding vocal pitch will do enough to keep partygoers chanting calls for freedom from the clutches of COVID-19.
