The journey of crowning the 62nd Miss South Africa (SA) began on Monday 11 May and we have all the details you need to set yourself on a path that saw Zozibini Tunzi sit on the throne of the Universe.
Lockdown will not affect this year’s pageant
This year’s beauty pageant comes with a caveat. Due to the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), everything about Miss SA will have to be virtual. At least, until such a time where the Miss SA Organisation is granted leeway to run the event as they always have.
The chief executive of Miss SA Stephanie Weil revealed that preparations made following Tunzi’s momentous pageant run have made it possible to continue with the launch of the 2020 campaign amid the lockdown.
“We had already streamlined our entry process last year when we went online so nothing really has changed with lockdown. We will be searching for talented young women throughout the country. Our main goal is to bring about hope and showcase women empowerment through the Miss South Africa platform and we believe that in any format this will be something that the whole country will get behind,” she noted in a statement published on the South Coast Herald.
Contestants with the dream of stepping in the shoes of Miss Universe have the opportunity to launch their pageant career by competing in Miss SA.
