Longwe Twala’s legal troubles escalate after no-show in court
Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi confirmed that Longwe was arrested in Diepkloof, Soweto, early Tuesday morning after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
“He is expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday for contempt of court,” said Nevhuhulwi.
Longwe, who was initially released on a warning following an arrest in September for allegedly breaking into his father’s house, was due in court on 29 October 2024.
The September charges include the theft of clothes, household items, and equipment valued at over R200,000.
Compounding his legal troubles, it has been reported that Longwe recently stole a phone from his sister, who had allowed him to stay with her as part of his bail conditions.
History of theft allegations against Longwe Twala
Longwe Twala has faced numerous allegations of theft over the years.
In September 2024, both Longwe and his brother Sello Jr. were accused of breaking into their father’s studio and stealing equipment while allegedly under the influence of drugs
Chicco Twala, who was in the United States at the time, confirmed the incident and stated that he had reached a breaking point with his sons.
“Longwe and his younger brother have been stealing from me for a long time. I decided enough is enough,” he said in a statement.
This isn’t Longwe’s first brush with the law.
In January 2020, he was arrested for allegedly stealing a cellphone.
The incident gained widespread attention after a video surfaced showing an angry Chicco escorting his son to the Diepkloof Police Station. In the video, Chicco was heard expressing his frustration, saying:
“I so wish it was you who killed Senzo Meyiwa so that you can rot in jail.”
