A week after Anele Tembe was laid to rest, Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes resurfaced with his first statement.
AKA speaks out on Tembe loss: Here’s a breakdown of his statement
A lot has been said about the rapper since the shocking news of his fiance’s death that, for the most part, was captured on footage and blasted on social media.
Some vouched for the Finesse star, while others cast a shadow of doubt over his alleged culpability in Tembe’s fatal fall. The 22-year-old’s father, Moses, made startling claims at her funeral when he vehemently maintained that Tembe was never suicidal and that he does not believe she took her own life.
AKA sat next to Moses at his fiance’s burial, visibly dejected and as pale as a ball of snow. A week later, the rapper found the strength to issue a statement on recent tragic events and here is a breakdown of what he said:
He still reels from the loss of Tembe
Forbes admits that coming to terms with the loss of Tembe is a mountain he climbs everyday.
“I have lost the love of my life… and every day feels like a mountain to climb. I miss Anele, so much, and I’m heartbroken at the unfulfilled life we had planned together,” he wrote.
About insinuations made on his character
AKA added that the loss has taken a toll on his psyche and the insinuations and innuendos made about his possible culpability in Tembe’s death has made the mourning process a dreadful experience.
“The tragic loss of Anele has taken a great toll on me, emotionally and psychologically. Insinuations and innuendos made on my personhood have made it even more difficult to process and the strain our families have taken is unspeakable – which is why at this time I choose to retreat to honour my journey, praying that the moments of stillness may bring me closer to some clarity,” he said.
AKA thanks friends, family and Megacy
Part of the reason he was able to muster up the strength to resurface, AKA wrote, was owed to his support base.
“I wish to convey my gratitude to all the people who have supported me during this difficult time in my life, my mom Lynn and dad, Tony, Bab’Moses and Ndabezitha, my brother Steffan, my family (both Forbes and Tembe), my heartfelt gratitude to you all… Last but not least, to my incredibly loyal fans, the MEGACY, your collective love and support has brought me much comfort,” he added.
Asks for privacy in healing process
All of AKA’s business dealings and social media activities will be managed by his team, the rapper noted. He asked for privacy in these trying times and vowed to return once he has found closure in the tragic loss of his fiance.
“As we undergo this painful journey, I have entrusted my team to handle all of my affairs in the public domain, including all of my social media platforms. Please respect our privacy s we go through our grieving process, and please continue to keep our families in your prayers,” he concluded.
