Loadshedding schedule for week of Monday, 23 January 2023, confirmed
Following weeks of rampant power blackouts with no hope of an end in sight, the national electricity supplier revealed, in a brief statement posted on social media, that this week’s loadshedding schedule may be kept at a minimum of Stage 3.
Eskom explained that the escalated stages were, as of Monday, 23 January 2023, caused by two generating units at Tutuka Power Station that were forcibly shut down due to unplanned breakdowns,
The power utility added that this was further exacerbated by the delay in getting a generating unit at Arnot Power Station back online in time for the work week.
Consequently, this week is expected to kick off with Stage 3 loadshedding implemented from 05:00 until 16:00 on Monday.
Thereafter, rotational blackouts will be escalated to Stage 4 until 05:00 the next morning.
It remains unclear, at this juncture, what the loadshedding schedule will look like from Tuesday. Eskom did confirm that a full update will be published later on Monday.
