If you’re up for a challenge, here’s one: revamp your life to live more intentionally. Intentional living is simply living a life that’s aligned to your values, beliefs, and passions.
It means no more living in autopilot as you just pay bills, work really hard and are not aware of the quality of people you keep around.
What is intentional living?
Tapping into your core values is the distinct difference between living passively and living intentionally. Centre yourself for this process and know that you need to slow down, dig deep and be mindful of your actions going forward.
“Even when we feel completely stuck, intentional living reminds us that we have agency over how we react to situations out of our control. Intentional living looks different for each individual, but one thing that can’t be disputed is that it is an ongoing process. “ says Audre Stanton on The Good Trade blog.
It’s a real and authentic process as you sit with yourself to design a life centred around what you decide is good for you.
Where to begin?
You’d want to start asking yourself a series of questions that will help you decide what needs to stay, what needs to go and what needs to be rearranged in your life. Rebekah Joan suggests the following
What am I passionate about + why?
What are my priorities + why?
How attached am I to money + why?
What job are you in + why?
What’s your dream job + why?
What are my core values + why?
How to live intentionally
Now that you’ve answered those questions they should guide you in the right direction. Remember the ‘Why’ to those question will make you realise what truly matters to you. Keep the below pointers in mind when you’re in the process of making changes.
Set goals
After you’ve answered those questions, set goals that will help you actively live a mindful life. Your goals could be maintaining good mental health with 15-minute yoga every morning etc. You’ll see that many of your goals include routines. Stick to these routines so that it gets easier to reach your goals.
Hold yourself accountable
Commit to your new way of living. Learning how to live intentionally will take time and effort but don’t be hard on yourself. However, remember to hold yourself accountable and make the necessary adjustments.
Have a growth mindset
As we evolve and grow our needs, beliefs and values can change. We’re always learning new things, and experiencing new people too. Be open to new beliefs and question these new thoughts so that you can make changes to your lifestyle accordingly.
