Levi’s has launched SecondHand, a buy-back program that accepts old pairs of the American demin in exchange for gift cards.
Levi’s SecondHand buy-back program: How it works
According to Chief Marketing Officer Jennifer Sey, who spoke to Hypebeast, customers with old Levi’s garms can trade them in, instead of leaving them to waste away in the suitcase of unwanted clothes.
These will be repurposed, repaired and resold at discounted prices on the SecondHand online thrift store.
“Repurposing and repairing clothes require minimal additional energy input, no water, and no dyes to make more jeans. Buying a used pair of Levi’s jeans through SecondHand saves approximately 80 per cent of the CO2 emissions and 700 grams of waste compared to buying a new pair of Levi’s jeans,” Sey explained.
When will this be available in South Africa?
At this time, it is not known when the initiative will launch in South Africa. However, denim enthusiasts in Mzansi can still take advantage of the SecondHand thift store and make purchases.
Expect to spend anything between 30$ (R497) to $150 (R2 488) on a pre-owned item.
International price conversions exclude currency fluctuation considerations, tax and shipping.
