Six-step guide on how to make candles at home
We can not give you all the tools without a six-step guide on how you can make candles at home.
Step 1: Measure your wax
Firstly make sure you have a clean open surface to work with. You can protect your area with newspapers in case of any accidents. Then measure the amount of wax you need in an aluminium bowl, which will depend on how big or small your candle is.
Step 2: Melt your wax
Put the aluminium bowl over a pot of boiling water and let your wax melt for 10-15 minutes.
Step 3: Add fragrance oil
Once the wax has been melted, you can add a few drops of the fragrance oil of choice.
Step 4: Attach the wick
Now is the time to attach the wick to the bottom of your container. The wick must be secured before you put in the wax. An easy way to get it to stick is by dipping the wick in the melted wax and letting it harden for about 5 minutes.
Step 5: Pour the wax
Before pouring the wax into your desired container, make sure the temperature is at 140 degrees. Now add it slowly, making sure to hold the wick in place.
Step 6: Secure the wick
To make sure the wick is not swayed by the wax you can secure it with a laundry clip. Then all that is left is for the wax to harden for about 4 hours, and for you to cut the wick to your desired size.
