The global Hip-Hop community is still reeling from the news of Pop Smoke’s untimely death.
The New York-based rapper was allegedly gunned down in his Hollywood Hills home, in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.
Tributes have poured in from all corners of the world, with most fans shocked at how the 20-year-old was robbed of his journey to stardom.
Was Pop Smoke murdered by people he knew?
Pop Smoke was still feeding off the fever of his recent release, Christopher Walking and his feature on the Jackboys’ self-titled EP.
The New Yorker was destined for big things with 2020 lining itself up to be his breakthrough year.
Unfortunately, the Grime rap star would not live to reap the fruits of his success.
While the details surrounding his death are a bit sketchy, sources close to the investigation have alleged that homicide detectives are in search of four unknown men.
Preliminary evidence also suggests that this may have been a home invasion robbery.
However, a closer look at cryptic messages posted by peers who were close to the rapper, like 50 Cent and Nicki Minaj, has offered an alternative to the mystery surrounding Pop Smoke’s murder.
50 Cent, who was seen as a mentor of the 20-year-old, posted a cryptic message on Instagram, hinting that Pop Smoke may have had enemies cloaked as friends that even he was not aware of.
Nicki Minaj also touched on jealousy as a possible motive behind the Christopher Walking rapper.
Murmurs of inside job grow loud on social media
The Pop Smoke murder mystery has intrigued the entire Hip Hop community and a look into the rapper’s last moments has raised a few eyebrows towards the people he was allegedly hanging around with.
Investigators have confirmed that there was gathering — or a party — at the Hollywood Hills residence Pop Smoke had leased, prior to the shooting.
More interesting, though, is the fact that he and his close friend, had allegedly posted the physical address of the residence on Instagram in the hours leading up to the invasion.
Social media has tried to link the cryptic messages posted by 50 Cent and Nicki Minaj with the friend’s bizarre post in drumming up a possible motive behind the killing.
Los Angeles authorities have yet to issue a statement on the latest updates in the homicide investigation.
At this time, nobody, including the friend, has been charged with the crime.
