It has been two years since we had our socks rocked off by Pusha T’s surgical slaughter of a response to Drake’s Duppy Freestyle and Noah ’40’ Shebib is still haunted by the diss track.
Why is Story of Adidon still relevant today?
When Pusha T unleashed that verbal assault on Drake and his cohorts, he made it known that there was plenty where that came from and that absolutely nothing was off the table.
There are no rules to beef and since Drake mentioned Pusha T’s wife on Duppy, the Daytona coke connoisseur saw it fit to drag Drizzy and his team to filth.
Part of what makes this rap feud so intriguing all these years later is the question surrounding the disses towards 40.
40 speaks out on Pusha T diss, two years later
On Story of Adidon, Pusha T, towards the end, pokes fun at the OVO producer’s multiple sclerosis, a potentially disabling disease of the brain and spinal cord.
This was the line drawn in the sand for most rap fans. However, in Pusha’s perspective, Drake had that coming for mentioning his wife which is a valid point.
Anyway, Drizzy graciously took the L and turned a blind eye on the whole saga. 40, on the hand, has never fully recovered from Pusha’s taunts.
Speaking in an interview with Rolling Stone, the producer revealed that he still thinks about what Pusha said.
“I guess all I’ll say is that was just a different thing for me. Different than a bar that he gets off. No real comment. I made my comment. It was National MS Awareness day (the day Pusha released the diss track),” he said.
He admitted that the taunts affected him emotionally and it was a while before he chose to channel those feelings towards something positive.
“Ultimately, I like turning things into positive situations or brighter sides. And if that brings awareness to my disease on a bigger level, I was happy about that. That’s what I used it for. That ultimately is a good thing for me. I like that transaction we had from that perspective. I’m very vocal about it.” he added.
Pusha T would have gotten word about this interview and knowing his character, he probably rolled his eyes back and carried on minding his business.
