Meghan Trainor, an All-American singer and songwriter, has resurfaced on the scene with a whole new look and peeps from the Hip Hop world are interested to know who this bossy chick is.
Of course, Meghan Trainor is no newbie. In fact, she is a regular Billboard Hot 100 top charter and has amassed a ton of wealth from her music career.
However, her recent album Treat Myself with the lead single, Nice To Meet Ya, a Hip-Pop song which essentially reintroduced Nicki Minaj into the fold of music releases, has expanded her reach and found new fans.
Since we absolutely loved the record, a platform that gave us glimpses of Minaj’s alter ego — Roman, we did a little digging and this is what we know about Meghan Trainor.
Who is Meghan Trainor?
Meghan Trainor was born in 1993, a girl from Nantucket, Massachusetts born into a family of jewellers. Trainor honed her vocal talents as a church singer since she was six years old.
A large part of her teenage years was spent perfecting her craft at songwriting conventions, high school music classes and taking guitar lessons from former NRBQ member, Johnny Spampinato.
Early career highlights
The first big move in her music pursuit came when she was introduced to Spampinato’s fellow bandmate, AI Anderson. At the time, Trainor was on the verge of snatching a Berkley College of Music scholarship. However, Anderson, seeing a rare talent in the 17-year-old, connected Trainor to Carla Wallace, a publisher at Big Yellow Dog Music.
She was still not harnessing her full potential, though. Trainor would, for at least two years from 2012, make a living as a songwriter-for-hire, earning most of her royalties by writing for Italian artists.
However, it would not be long until everything she had worked for would culminate in her big career break.
Music achievements
Trainor’s first major top-charting hit came in 2014, with her debut label release, All About That Bass. The single, released under Epic Records, charted extremely well and garnered a total of 11-million in sales.
Since then, Trainor has:
- released Title EP that peaked at 15 on Billboard 200;
- released Lips Are Moving single that peaked at four on Billboard Hot 100;
- garnered 1.8-million sales from Title; and
- headlined her first nationwide concert tour tagged _That Bass Tour
