The story starts with a legal document — first perused by Rolling Stone — from the Superior Court of New Jersey that paints a pretty grim picture.
Fauziya, who met DJ Akademiks online back in 2021, says she was invited to his house on 16 July 2022.
What she didn’t expect was to find two other men there.
According to her, the night took a dark turn when these men, identified as John Doe 1 and 2, allegedly spiked her drink and assaulted her on Akademiks’ pool deck.
Fauziya recounts a horrific scene where she was forcibly raped by DJ Akademiks himself later that evening, losing consciousness due to the drugs.
The morning after, she confronted him, and he showed her evidence that suggested even more happened after she blacked out.
DJ Akademiks reacts to Fauziya Abashe lawsuit
DJ Akademiks didn’t just sit back after these allegations hit the fan.
He took to a livestream to defend himself, calling the lawsuit a shakedown for money.
He insists that the police cleared him after an investigation, saying the evidence, which includes video footage and text messages, was in his favour.
“I’m not even hiding and ducking from a situation, or ducking from the narrative that happened,” he said.
Akademiks stressed that he was actually asleep when the other alleged assaults happened and denied having any part in the wrongdoing.
“I pretty much told everything. And also I told the truth. The police came, they looked, we gave them everything. Pretty much everything is documented, caught on videotape. They got to see it with their own two eyes. Not only did they say, ‘Ak, you good’ — and this is not just word of mouth. This is, ‘You’re officially clear. We could not bring any criminal Charges. You are not criminally liable.’ But also, anybody else in the situation, was also clear,” Akademiks reiterated.
