The 92nd Academy Awards (Oscars 2020) ceremony is only hours away and before we delve into all the glitz and glam we expect to witness on the red carpet, we thought it would be fitting to revisit some of the cringiest moments of the past.
Oscars 2020: Most embarrassing moments of all time
While the Oscars 2020 is a ceremony that recognises the best of Hollywood, it also never disappoints in drumming up some of the most embarrassing moments.
For a show that celebrates scripted work, one would think that the blunders that often take place on the night were written and rehearsed.
There are so many wild and cringe moments we could recall. John Travolta has never recovered from his bizarre behaviour at the Oscars in 2014. Licking a highly unimpressed Scarlett Johanssen’s cheeks and wildly mispronouncing Idina Menzel are two blunders that surely still haunt the Pulp Fiction actor.
We can never forget the time Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston were all in attendance at the Oscars in 2009. It was tense in that hall, to say the least!
However, it does not get more controversial that the moment in 2017 when La La Land was ‘mistakenly’ awarded the Best Picture when, in fact, the category was won by Moonlight. Charlize Theron’s face said it all!
The blunder sparked outrage and the Academy was lambasted for its failure to recognise non-white performers.
Cosmopolitan UK put together a montage of the most embarrassing moments in the history of the Oscars and you can watch it below.
