Nicki Minaj had fans waiting with great anticipation since she teased an announcement on Friday and rightly so, the Jamaica Queens ‘kween’ delivered a couple of exciting updates to her Barbz.
Nicki Minaj on IG Live: Here’s what she said
If fans were expecting new music to drop, they would have left the Minaj interaction very disappointed because the rapstress’ did not announce a new single.
However, this doesn’t entirely spell doom and gloom. For the TL:DW community, here is the gist of what Minaj announced in her IG Live:
- There might not be a new single out right now but Minaj confirmed that her next release would be a Young Money Cash Money reunion with Drake and Lil Wayne
- This ‘new’ record titled Seeing Green (by Drake’s account, this was a throwaway that probably sat on the shelves for years gathering dust) will be included in the re-release of Minaj’s marquee mixtape Beam Me Up Scotty which is now available on streaming platforms
This is what Drake, who made a brief cameo on the Live, had to say about the YMCMB reunion:

- Two more never-heard-before songs will also be added onto the mixtape re-release, Fractions and Crocodile (these songs were not recently recorded by the rapstress).

Throughout her broadcast, which garnered more than a million viewers, Minaj promised new music. Speaking to Drake about her verse on Seeing Green, she said:
“[Drake] got me out of my writer’s block. He sent me something and it made me feel so competitive again …”
