The mystery of what happened in the truck that was occupied by Canadian rap-singer Tory Lanez, Savage star Megan Thee Stallion, her ex-best friend Kelsey Nicole and a security guard will be unravelled in a court of law.
Tory Lanez finally charged with shooting Megan Thee Stallion
According to reports, Los Angeles County prosecutors confirmed that Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, is facing one felony charge of assault with a semiautomatic firearm.
The other charge, which we already knew about, is related to the carrying of a loaded and concealed firearm in a vehicle.
The entire stratosphere of the entertainment industry was rocked by aerial footage of an SUV surrounded by LA police officers in the wee hours of Sunday 12 July 2020, where Stallion was seen hopping uncomfortably as she was restrained in cuffs.
Initially, it was thought that the Houston rapstress had stepped on glass and for a while, this was the narrative that was spun on social media.
However, it didn’t take long before pieces of the puzzle shed light on what may have transpired after Stallion and Lanez, now identified as former lovers, left Kylie Jenner’s mansion in Hollywood Hills.
Confirmed by Stallion on Instagram Live in August, the foot injury she suffered was not caused by a shard of glass. Instead, the rapstress directly pointed at Lanez as the person who aimed at her foot and allegedly pulled the trigger.
Fortunately, the fragments of the bullet did not damage any of Stallion’s bones. Lanez went on a hiatus for two months before he came out to address matters in the most chauvinistic way possible.
DAYSTAR album sales tank amid shooting controversy
The Canadian rapper released DAYSTAR on Friday 25 September 2020, where he told his side of the story. His response lacked empathy and was a poor choice. If these words are lies then numbers surely don’t since DAYSTAR‘s first week sales are the worst of his career.
The album debuted at the 10th spot on the Billboard 200 chart, scoring a bleak 2 000 pure album sales and 34 000 SEA units (a conversion of 47.7 million on-demand streams).
How many years is Tory Lanez facing?
He may have been joking and mocking Stallion and everyone who’s turned against him since 12 July, but the seriousness of the charges marks the end of a promising career.
If found guilty, not only does Lanez face permanent expulsion from the United States (US), he could face up to 22 years in prison.
