The keyboard wars between Tekashi 6ix9ine and Meek Mill have spilt over into the new week and things are starting to look a bit more intense than we initially thought.
Tekashi 6ix9ine beef with Meek: Where it all started
The name 6ix9ine has been rubbing people up the wrong way lately. Since the New York rapper’s early release from federal custody, he’s added more enemies to the exhaustive list of adversaries he has.
When news got out on Friday 8 May that 6ix9ine was going to release his first single in 2020, after all the drama of the past 18 months, Meek Mill was one of the rappers who voiced out their discontent with the sight of a ‘rat’ returning to mainstream music.
The two went back and forth, Meek Mill ranting away while 6ix9ine nonchalantly told Meek to take care of his newborn baby instead of wasting his time on a rainbow-haired Mexican — a true troll’s response.
Gooba dropped and all kinds of records were broken. 6ix9ine’s new single has eclipsed everything that’s dropped this year. Not including the Instagram Live record he smashed, Gooba has:
- amassed 43.5 million views on YouTube in 24 hours, beating Eminem’s record for the most-viewed Hip-Hop video on the platform in a day;
- shot up to number one on Apple Music;
- number one on Deezer; and
- number two on iTunes.
The trolling has started and Meek is the first victim
The performance of 6ix9ine’s single has garnered a lot of media attention and after these official statistics were released on social media, entertainment blogs like The Shade Room picked the story up and shared it on its platform.
Hype to this, 6ix9ine went on the assault in the comments and asked people to go “check on Meek [to] see if he’s okay.”
Suffice it to say, Meek was certainly not okay. The rapper caught wind of this comment and went off on another Twitter rant, vowing to put a stop to 6ix9ine’s rampage once and for all.
If history has taught us anything about the rainbow-haired Hispanic, it’s that he thrives off reciprocated hate. It gives him life and Meek falling into his lures is only detrimental to him in the numbers game.
