Floyd Mayweather has suffered another loss in a span of a week after it was announced that his uncle, Roger, has passed away at the age of 58.
As reported by TMZ Sports, no information has been released on the cause of Roger’s death. However, it is widely known that the 58-year-old’s health was deteriorating.
Floyd Mayweather’s comments from a 2015 interview about how boxing negatively impacted Roger’s health rang loud when the news of his death was announced.
“My uncle Roger Mayweather has lost a lot of memory from the sport of boxing. He’s only in his 50s, but it seems like he’s an old man in his 80s,” he said.
Roger Mayweather remembered: Important career highlights
It is no secret that the Money Team has suffered irreparable harm in losing Roger. In boxing, he was one of the best trainers to ever do it.
Mayweather’s phenomenal record in the ring is owed to his uncle’s philosophy of matching agility with power.
The 58-year-old has earned his respect with the gloves as well, known for battling with big stars like Julio César Chávez and Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini.
He goes out with two WBA welterweight titles between 1987 and 1989.
Latest updates on Josie Harris death investigation
As if losing his revered uncle is not traumatic enough, Floyd Mayweather has also had to deal with updates on his ex-girlfriend’s death investigation.
The 40-year-old, who mothers three of Mayweather’s children, was found dead in her car, which was parked outside of her driveway on the evening of Tuesday 10 March.
A week into the probe and according to TMZ Sports, suicide and drug overdose has been ruled out as likely causes of Harris’ death.
If the 40-year-old did not take her own life, then what happened to her?
That question has yet to be answered as Los Angeles investigators await results from a medical examiner who is studying the autopsy report.
