Nas and Hit-Boy are proving to be a powerhouse team restoring the New York feeling in Hip-Hop with their latest offering, King’s Disease 2.
Everything we learned from Nas King’s Disease 2
it’s become clear that somewhere in Chauncey Hollis’ hard drive, a special folder of beats is reserved for Nasir Jones.
The duo wasn’t phased by the frenzy surrounding Kanye West’s DONDA release initially scheduled to drop on Friday. Nas and Hit-Boy have carved a lane for their King’s Disease series and on the second-coming, ‘God’s Son’ continued on his run of delivering a critically acclaimed project.
The 15-track album sees Nas traverse into a narrative where many of Hip-Hop’s unanswered questions are cleared over hard-hitting beats, a luxury that critics held over the rapper’s head as a chink in his armour for years.
If avoiding Nas’ discography was due to his notorious selection of ‘unconventional’ beats, then Hit-Boy has officially put that stigma to bed.
Also, on Death Row East, a must-listen for Hip-Hop historians, Nas backs up Suge Knight and makes it abundantly clear that contrary to media speculation, Randy Walker, infamously renowned as Stretch, never set up Tupac in his traffic light assassination.
Eminem, EMPD, A Boogie Wit da Hoodie and Ms Lauryn Hill are just some of the guests who stepped in to assist Nas paint a narrative of the state of affairs as the king of Hip-Hop.
