From the two teaser clips released by CBS on the much-anticipated Meghan Markle interview with Oprah Winfrey, it is abundantly clear that not all is well inside Buckingham Palace.
Meghan Markle interview: When is it and how to watch in SA
Markle and her husband, Prince Harry have been candid about their intentions to start a new life away from the monarchical rule of Queen Elizabeth.
It started out with an announcement that the couple was moving away from the palace, to a new home in the US. While the question on their royal duties lingered on since ‘Mexit’, it has become quite clear that Markle and Harry have no intentions of grooming their son, Archie, in royal traditions.
All of this and more, we expect to hear from the CBS interview that has the world waiting with great anticipation. Already, from the tongue-biting comments heard from Markle in the latest teaser, it’s evident that there will be a lot of gob smackers.
The interview will air exclusively on CBS, in the US, on the evening of Sunday 7 March 2021 from 20:00 to 22:00.
DStv has announced that South Africans will also get a chance to tune in.
The cable network will broadcast the interview on Monday 8 March 2021 at 19:30, on M-Net channel 101.
This viewing is only available to Premium, Compact Plus and Compact subscribers.
Bombshells you can expect to drop
A lot of talk has surrounded Mexit and on Sunday, it will all be laid bare by the royal couple. Markle has already hinted at the scale of the in-fighting with the comments she’s made in the teasers released by CBS.
When Winfrey asks, “how do you feel about the palace hearing you speak your truth today?”; Markle, quite interestingly, replies:
“I don’t know how they could expect that, after all of this time, we would still just be silent if there is an active role that The Firm is playing in perpetuating falsehoods about us. And, if that comes with risk of losing things, I mean, I … there is a lot that has been lost already.”
The latter, we believe, will be at the centre of Sunday’s interview. Meanwhile, back at Buckingham Palace, Markle is the subject of an internal investigation after multiple staff members complained about her alleged ill-treatment.
The outcome of this, we expect, will be the palace’s messy response to whatever shall be revealed to Winfrey on Sunday.
