Actor Dominique Thorne returns in the role, now leading her own six-episode series set to premiere on Disney+ in June 2025.

In the newly released trailer, viewers get a first look at Riri’s return to Chicago, her home city, where she is determined to build an advanced iron suit and leave her mark.

The footage introduces exciting characters and gives fans a glimpse into the unique tone of the show—blending humour, heart, and action.

What to expect from the series

Set after the events of Wakanda ForeverIronheart follows Riri’s journey as she moves back to Chicago. While still recovering from the loss and transformation she experienced in Wakanda, Riri now faces new challenges.

She is caught between two worlds: one rooted in science and engineering, and the other filled with unexpected magic and danger.

Executive producer Ryan Coogler described the show as having a “scrappy optimism” and a story that’s deeply personal.

“It’s this young woman who has this chip on her shoulder and this armored exterior, but inside, she’s just full of love. If that’s not Chicago, I don’t know what is,” Coogler said.

A major highlight is the introduction of Parker Robbins, also known as The Hood, played by Anthony Ramos.

Robbins is portrayed as someone who, like Riri, wants to be great. However, their motivations differ sharply, and Coogler hints that Robbins’ unchecked ambition could lead to serious consequences.

“It really highlights what happens when that ambition goes unchecked,” he noted.

The show’s story also explores the tension between logic and the supernatural. Head writer Chinaka Hodge and executive producer Zoie Nagelhout were particularly interested in the clash of science and magic, a theme reflected in the new threats Riri will face.

The series features a strong supporting cast including Lyric Ross, Alden Ehrenreich, Regan Aliyah, Manny Montana, Matthew Elam, and Anji White. Expect character-driven storytelling with action-packed sequences and emotional depth.
