The legend of Fyre Festival still haunts those who were involved and Kendall Jenner, heir of the Kardashian dynasty, has had to answer for her role in the con.
Fyre Festival haunts Kendall Jenner
Enough has been said about the extent of the disaster Fyre Festival turned out to be. Netflix did a darn good job at documenting the con and its masterminds Billy MacFarland and Ja Rule, have paid their price.
MacFarland is finishing off his six-year bid in the rathole and Rule has damaged his reputation beyond repair.
Next in line to get her karma is supermodel and reality TV heir Jenner. According to E! News, the 24-year-old settled on a lawsuit for her involvement in the promotion of the botched event.
Jenner had used her influence and large Instagram following to entice fans with the idea that Kanye West was going to headline Fyre Festival in a post that has since been deleted.
“So hyped to announce my G.O.O.D Music Family as the first headliners for @fyrefestival. Use my promo code KJONFYRE for the next 24 hours to get on the list for the artists and talents afterparty on Fyre Cay,” she wrote.
In her defence, she much like everyone else that was hoodwinked by MacFarland, did not know any better. In their mind, they were doing their part in making the world’s most hypebeast festival.
Alas, everything that goes around must return and for Jenner, a debt bill of $90 000 (R1.6 million) was her ticket to redemption.
The settlement terms of the lawsuit are not known at this stage.
