The maturation of Kanye West is amazing to witness, considering how high of a horse he had to jump off in the past few years.
Kanye West has always been for black folks
Everything Kanye West does, he wants the world to know. Why? Because he is Kanye West. The man forced Forbes Magazine to re-evaluate his net worth and rightfully tag him as Hip-Hop’s second billionaire, after his mentor and big brother Jay-Z.
But, lest we forget, we are referring to the same Ye who went against the grain and wrote Jesus Walks, a politically charged single that did not fit the mould of the norm at that time.
A breaker of chains and barriers, Kanye has become a polarising figure in pop culture and if you hate him for his loose lips, you sure must love him for the passion he has for the future of black.
Here’s how much he donated
Following the outrageous and racially motivated death of George Floyd, reports claim the Chicago rap-design-architect has put his money where his mouth is and donated millions to families of black victims of police brutality.
The exact details of these reports are sketchy but it’s believed the beneficiaries of the $2 million (R33,6 million) include the family of Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor.
Again, not much information is available on the use of the donation or if this is indeed the total but what we know for certain is that Ye also secured the future of Floyd’s six-year-old daughter Gianna with 529 college plan.
This college fund will be available for Gianna to utilise once she is old enough to go to college, a dream we are certain Floyd was working towards before his life was inexplicably taken by Minnesota police officers.
We stan this selfless and philanthropic Ye.
