On Friday, Doja Cat dropped her long-awaited album, Plant Her. This album is “based on a fictional planet self-originated by Doja Cat on which all species and races of space exist in harmony” according to The Guardian.
Here’s our review of Doja Cat’s album: Planet Her
It’s undeniable how talented and versatile Cat is. In all three albums, the singer/rapper has given different rap flows, beautiful vocals and tons of different feelings to each song.
In each song, there’s a different type of Cat you get to experience. There’s freaky Cat, in love Cat, unfaithful Cat, rapper Cat or singer Cat. Sometimes all of them in one.
In Planet Her, the singer goes from matching Ariana Grande‘s vocals in their collab, I Don’t Do Drugs with her candy-sweet vocals to a smooth afrobeat in Women. You get a bit of feminist empowerment on a reggae-influenced tone in Woman, but Planet Her’s concept is to accompany sci-fi visuals, similar to those from her second single Need To Know which is included in the album.
The album has to be one of the top releases of this year. Matching the same energy of Nicki Minaj‘s Beam Me Up Scotty album, in its sense of good flow and a different sound. In all 14 tracks, Cat did not miss a single one.
