It’s a great day to be a Cat and a Barb! Billboard has released its Hot 100 single chart data and DojaCat’s Say So Remix has climbed to the top, handing Nicki Minaj her first #1 in 109 attempts.
Nicki Minaj finally bags Hot 100 #1
If resilience was a person, it would be Nicki Minaj. Although, one could argue that the queen of rap has already achieved more than any female artist could with her illustrious music catalogue. It’s just the fact that there were obstacles in the way of her reaching the top spot every time she tried.
It seemed to be the case this time around too. DojaCat’s Say So Remix dropped a day after Megan Thee Stallion galloped out of the stable with Savage Remix featuring the comparable Beyoncè.
The ladies bossed the charts but first-place can only accommodate one duo. While Savage was a massive social media success, it does not seem that it translated well in streams and sales and that is no fault of Megan Thee Stallion.
Say So Remix is, by all definition, a Pop record and because of this, it had a wider reach. According to Chart Data, Nicki Minaj has broken the record for the “longest wait for a Hot 100 #1 hit, earning her first with her 109th entry.”
The song also made history as ” the first time a collaboration between two female rappers is #1 on the Hot 100.”
Barbs break the internet in celebration of their queen
It has been pandemonium on social media since the news was announced. Even 6ix9ine called out The Shade Room for delaying the announcement and bothering themselves with YG gossip.
This is how the Barbs celebrated the news of Say So Remix beating everyone to claim #1 on the coveted Billboard chart.
