According to reports, the rapper was celebrating his birthday over the weekend and had initially rented an Airbnb to host his birthday party.
According to his attorney, Lewis Fusco, the party grew too large, and the group was asked to leave the Airbnb.
Foolio then relocated to a Holiday Inn hotel, where he was ambushed and shot in the parking lot early Sunday morning.
The Tampa Police Department confirmed that Jones was the victim of the shooting, although positive identification was pending from the Medical Examiner’s Office at the time of the initial reports.
Three other individuals were injured in the incident and were taken to the hospital in stable condition.
The police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Born Charles Jones on June 21, 1998, Julio Foolio grew up in Jacksonville, Florida.
He gained prominence in the Hip-Hop scene with his 2018 hit single Coming Up and was a key figure in the drill rap genre, known for his raw and often controversial lyrics about gang violence and street life in Jacksonville.
Foolio was closely associated with the Hip-Hop collective KTA and had a significant social media presence, boasting over 900,000 followers on Instagram and 604,000 subscribers on YouTube.
Despite his rising fame, Foolio’s life was marred by violence and legal issues.
In the last three years, he survived two previous shooting incidents in Jacksonville.
In 2019, tragedy struck his family when his younger brother, Adrian Dennard, was fatally shot. Foolio himself was shot in the foot in October 2023 in an incident where multiple shots were fired at his vehicle.
In April 2022, Foolio faced legal troubles when he was arrested during a traffic stop for a window tint violation.
