With the release of the Eddie Murphy sequel, Coming 2 America, Tiny Desk concert blessed us with a home concert featuring the brightest African musicians from around the continent.
Tiny Desk: A breakdown of the concert
After the release of the fully loaded African soundtrack to go alongside the blockbuster, many Africans were pleased to see some of the most talented African stars represent the continent.
Performing on set were South African artists Nasty C who performed his track Black and White alongside Dreamville’s Ari Lennox , Ricky Tyler on his song Everything and Prince Kaybee performed his hit single Fetch Your Life with Msaki gracing the vocals.
The concert also featured talented acts like the exciting Alpha P from Nigeria, who performed his groovy single Jiggy Bop, Locko from Cameroon who pulled off a beautful serenation of his jazzy track Magnet and the concert closed off with the performance of Ye Baba by the Togo duo known as Toofan.
Nasty C: A global star
The Def Jam artist keeps finding success and his performance on the home concert proved to everybody why he is considered to be one of the biggest acts to come out of Africa.
“I am honoured to be representing Africa in such a monumental moment, celebrating the best of black creatives,” said Nasty C.
With the track Black and White alongside Ari Lennox as the lead single with a music video assisting it’s release, many people are questioning how big of a career this young star has ahead of him.
What to expect from the compilation album?
The 16 track album produced by Def Jam Africa features artists of all different types and genres mixing hip hop, Afropop, RnB, Zouglou and even amapiano.
Talents such as Tiwa Savage, DJ Ganyani, DJ Arafat, Gemini Major, Tellaman, ANATII and many more also make an appearance on the soundtrack.
The Tiny Desk Concert has also been earning it’s plaudits and has been seeing rave reviews on social media.
