The rumour mill is in overdrive over claims that Solange Knowles is currently booed up with Chicago rap connoisseur, Common.
Is Solange Knowles dating Common?
Recent pictures showing the couple all cosy at the Artists Creating Social Impact Event that was held in Town Hall, New York City have sparked romance rumours.
According to an Ace Showbiz report, it’s believed Common was in attendance as Solange’s date as the sister of Beyonce was tipped to be the first-ever recipient the Lena Horne Prize.
Solange’s speech was widely applauded after she vowed to use the R1.5 million ($100 000) prize on the Project Row Houses organisation, a non-profit “platform that enriches lives through art with an emphasis on cultural identity and its impact on the urban landscape.”
Interestingly, the couple was rumoured to have attended the event as a date. However, very little exchange was had. In fact, it is believed Common and Solange had not even graced the red carpet together.
While the two have kept their business to themselves, it was noted that also in attendance to support Solange was her mother, TIna Knowles, her stepfather Richard Lawson and friends: Andra Day; Leon Bridges; Jon Batiste; Mumu Fresh; Questlove; Talib Kweli; Angelique Kidjo; Alice Smith; Rapsody and Lauren Von Der Pool.
Both of them went through breakups in 2019
Solange has, for the most part, managed to keep her private life away from the headlines. However, public interest has piqued since she came out of her second marriage with husband Alan Ferguson in 2019 after five years.
Common, coincidentally, also went through a breakup with former partner Angela Rye in the same year.
“I’m leaning towards ‘I want kids’ and he was leaning towards ‘I don’t know.’ I think when somebody tells you I don’t know, they just tell you that because they don’t really want to hurt you,” was Rye’s perspective on the breakup.
At this time, all the talk around Solange and Common is nothing short of gossip but one can never rule out public speculation. Sometimes, the truth lies in what is not said.
