Where did the Instagram Live artist battle begin?
The Instagram Live artist battle culture has grown a lot of steam over the past couple of weeks. What started out as a fun two-way channel between Swizz Beats and Timbaland, turned into a daily fixture on the Facebook-owned app.
So far, we have been treated with legendary face-offs that, outside of the reality we are living in right now, would be nothing but items in our bucket lists.
What are the rules?
There is no official corporation or organisation behind these IG Live artist battles. As far as we know, Swizz Beats has been coordinating these friendly encounters by himself.

The rules are simple. Both competitors play 20 of their greatest hits, back-to-back. Each artist can only play a verse and a chorus of a song.
Of course, it was more relaxed in the recent past but due to unforeseen incidents that occurred in the Sean Garrett vs The-Dream battle, tighter rules had to be implemented.
Mannie Fresh vs Scott Storch: Who won?
On Wednesday evening (wee hours of Thursday morning in South Africa), Mannie Fresh, the south’s hardest-working and iconic DJ/producer went up against the protege, Scott Storch.
This was an epic battle that brought out the best from both veterans. We won’t pick sides because we favour impartiality but Storch most certainly gave Mannie a run for his money.
