Two Oceans Marathon 2025: Here’s everything to know about the race
The 56 km Ultra Marathon, often referred to as the “world’s most beautiful marathon,” will be run on 5 April 2025, while the 21.1 km Half Marathon is set for 6 April 2025.
This event attracts thousands of runners from across the globe.
The 2025 edition marks the 54th running of the Ultra Marathon, which features scenic highlights such as Chapman’s Peak, Muizenberg, St James, Kalk Bay, and Constantia.
The Half Marathon will take participants through Claremont, Wynberg, and Constantia before concluding at the UCT Finish Fields in Rondebosch.
The Ultra Marathon contributes an estimated R672 million to the local GDP each year, making it Africa’s biggest running event.
Both the Ultra and Half Marathons are run under the auspices of World Athletics (WA), Athletics South Africa (ASA), and Western Province Athletics (WPA).

Training runs are an integral part of preparing for the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon 2025.
A series of five official training runs will be held in the lead-up to the event.
These runs offer an excellent opportunity to meet fellow entrants and to prepare for Race Day.
Booking Details:
- Stay updated on the official Two Oceans Marathon Facebook, Instagram, and X platforms for announcements on booking each training run.
- Arrival times for the training runs are set for 30 minutes before the start, allowing time for registration, race briefings, and warm-up.
Runners are encouraged to participate in these training runs to acclimatise themselves to the race environment and enhance their preparation for the big day.
How to enter Two Oceans Marathon 2025
Entries are now open for South African runners, with entry slots available through a draw that closes on 6 October 2024.
Selected entrants will be notified and must secure their spot by paying the entry fee before the deadline on 30 November 2024.
Entry Categories and Deadlines:
- South African Entries: Draw closes at midnight on 6 October 2024, with payment required by 30 November 2024.
- Rest of Africa Entries: Open from 1 October 2024 until capacity is reached.
- International Entries: Open from 1 October 2024 until capacity is reached.
- Substitutions: Available from 6 January 2025 to 3 March 2025.
- Elite Athlete Entries: Open from 13 January 2025 until 3 March 2025.
