Castle Lite head-to-head: Three reasons why DJ Tira will beat Maphorisa
DJ Tira is the obvious choice if you ask us who is winning tonight’s #CastleLiteUnlocks in Bed With head-to-head (you can live stream the event right here at 19:30).
Tonight’s Castle Lite Unlocks In Bed With DJ Tira and Maphorisa head-to-head battle promises to be an epic fixture.
Castle Lite Unlocks In Bed With series continues to serve vibes
This is the third instalment from the premium beer brand’s campaign to encourage South Africans to stay at home and practise social distancing amid the rapid spread of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19).
First, we were treated to an epic performance by Nasty C, Moozlie and The Kifness. Then, Castle Lite Unlocks In Bed With came through with the lyrical miracles offered by Stogie T, Rouge and Dreamville rapper Bas.
This time around, things have gone to the next level. We are talking about two of the biggest household names in South African urban music.
On Wednesday night, DJ Tira, a pioneer of the Durban Rocks movement that birthed a subgenre of Kwaito music, will go head-to-head with DJ Maphorisa, the Scorpion King and one of those who have been credited for the advent of Amapiano.
DJ Tira vs Maphorisa: Who will claim the bragging rights?
It will be hard to pick a victor in the contest and more than anything, it is less about who the winner will be and more about the celebration of culture.
But, let us be honest for a second. Maphorisa is a formidable opponent with enough artillery to smoke any opposition. However, we are talking about the originator of Thank You Mr DJ.
Here are three reasons why we believe DJ Tira is coming out victorious in tonight’s match-up.
The diversity of his music catalogue
Tira has had notable success in many genres. From his old days killing Deep House sets with DJ Sox, to his fiery braggadocious verse on AKA’s FREE, he has enough juice in the tank to go on for hours with his diverse music catalogue.
His raucous fanbase
Sure, Maphorisa has risen to become one of the most successful artists in South Africa but no fanbase is as raucous as those from Durban. In their eyes, DJ Tira is the second-coming of Shaka Zulu and they will make their presence known in the comments tonight, for sure.
He is the more likeable of the two
Let’s face it, how you come across to an audience is an important determinant in contests. People are less interested in the intricacies of your style or how you transitioned from that one hit song to the next. It is more about how you relate to others and suffice it to say, Tira is first-choice in this regard.
