The trail of Zanele Christina Dikhudu has gone cold since the last time she was seen alive in late 2019.
More than nine months into the search for the North West teen and investigators have made no progress in determining what happened to Zanele Dikhudu.
What happened to Zanele Dikhudu?
According to a statement released on the South African Police Service’s (Saps) Facebook page, Zanele Dikhudu was last seen in Ikageng, Potchefstroom, on Sunday 1 September 2019.
Police have released no further details about the approximate time of this sighting, where she was or what she was wearing.
Details we gathered about her disappearance
Furthermore, the image that North West police have circulated is a grainy greyscale image of Dikhudu that is heavily pixelated.
It does not show enough detail about her unique facial features and frankly, it could easily resemble any black teen with a round face.
We did a bit of digging and found out a bit more information on Dikhudu. Based on images we examined from her Facebook profile, we were able to confirm that she was a student at Botoka Secondary School.
Her missing person profile on Crime Stop claims she is between the ages of 10 and 18. While we were not able to confirm her age, her physical appearance leans more towards the latter.
In her own words, Dikhudu described herself as a loving, outspoken and active teen. Her friends knew her by ‘Romano’, a nickname she proudly listed on her social media.
Unfortunately, despite all our efforts, that is all we could find out about the teen.
