Following her arrest, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirmed that they would initiate extradition proceedings promptly.
This treaty stipulates that extradition cannot be denied based on the nationality of the person sought, ensuring that Cholota’s South African citizenship will not prevent her extradition.
The treaty also includes specific provisions for political and military offences, generally excluding them from the grounds for extradition unless they involve severe crimes like murder, kidnapping, or other forms of violent or significant unlawful activities.
