Authorities and those with a vested interest are searching all corners of Johannesburg for a man named Mohamed Zedan.

Zedan didn’t disappear out of his sheer will. There is actual CCTV footage which shows how he was abducted by people he thought he knew.

Watch: Mohamed Zedan abducted in plain sight

The incident, according to renowned crime reporter Yusuf Abramjee, took place on Tuesday evening, at a Mochachos restaurant in Fordsburg, a suburb known locally as ‘Little India’.

The CCTV footage leaked shows how two men — one armed — casually escorted Zedan out of the restaurant with a firearm pointed at him.

Here’s everything we know so far

At this time, there are two things we are not certain of:

  1. The nature of the relationship between Zedan and the man he is seen seated with for a while before the large-built armed suspect comes into frame with a weapon drawn; and
2 The current status of Zedan’s whereabouts or his being.

Authorities, however, have a strong lead to work on in tracing the suspects’ steps. From eyewitnesses who saw the abduction unfold, we know that Zedan and his kidnappers sped off in a black Toyota with registration number DJ 97LX GP.

Investigators working on the case have kept details surrounding the search for Zedan close to their chest. So, right now, we are not certain of the status of the case.

We will keep a close watch on the developments and return to provide updates as soon as they are made available.
