Dynah Rikhotso has been missing for five days and her family is starting to fear for the worst.
Dynah Rikhotso: Polokwane woman goes missing at clinic visit
The 32-year-old from Polokwane, Limpopo, went missing on Friday 7 August 2020 and till this day, no trace of her existence has been picked up by authorities.
According to police spokesperson Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, Rikhotso is from Nwamankena Village, a settlement situated on the border of Giyani.
The last person to see Rikhotso alive was her mother. In fact, she was with Rikhotso the day she went missing.
According to the mother’s version of events, the two of them had gone to the Basani Clinic in Nwamankena. As they stood in line waiting for their turn to receive assistance, Rikhotso apparently told her mother that she was headed to a nearby spaza shop to purchase an airtime bundle.
This would be the last time Rikhotso’s mom saw her. She waited for hours on end, with no site of her daughter.
It’s like she walked out of the clinic and fell right off the face of the earth.
After looking for her around the area with no luck, the mother approached the police and filed a missing persons case.
In normal circumstances, a disappearance of this nature, with no immediate signs of foulplay, investigators would treat it as an amber alert at best, considering Rikhotso’s age.
However, South Africa is in the midst of a genber-based violence epidemic where a woman is killed every four hours.
So, Polokwane authorities assembled a search party to track down the movements of Rikhotso. Unfortunately, to this day, there has been no sign of her.
At this time, it is not known what Rikhotso was wearing on the day she disappeared but if you recognise her from the image featured in this article, please contact Detective Warrant Officer Manganyi TK at 082 414 6709 or the Crime Stop number 08600 10111.
