Alutha Pasile, a 25-year-old male from Mdantsane, Eastern Cape, has been arrested and charged with the brutal murder of his girlfriend, Nosicelo Mtebeni.
Did Alutha Pasile brutally murder Nosicelo?
The 23-year-old University of Fort Hare scholar’s dismembered remains were found in two separate packages. Her torso, East London police revealed, was found stuffed in a suitcase and other remains, legs, arms, were discovered in a black refuse bag, by a vagrant, on the corners of Fleet and Fitzpatrick Road in Quigney, on Thursday morning.
The last time Mtebeni was heard of or seen alive, was on Tuesday night. Housemates who shared a rental property with Pasile and the LLB student claim they heard the couple fighting that evening.
The 23-year-old was allegedly heard screaming for help, accusing Pasile of domestic violence. Yet, no one thought of alerting authorities or better yet, approaching the dormitory to check on her.
Alas, the housemates claim that at some point after the quarrel, a deafening silence was heard. This, witnesses said, was taken as a sign that, much like on many other occasions fights of this nature had erupted from the couple’s room, things must have cooled down.
However, much to their dismay, this would be the last time Mtebeni was heard from. Two days later, the University of Fort Hare student’s remains were discovered by police.
What we found out about Pasile
On Monday, Pasile made his first appearance at the East London Magistrate’s Court after spending a weekend behind bars.
Proceedings had not concluded at the time this article was published. However, we expect matters to be rescheduled for a later date, depending on the plea Pasile submits to the magistrate.
Moreover, Swisher Post News sent a list of questions to provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana that were not answered at the time of publishing.
We did some digging to gain a bit of insight into the mind of Pasile, a man described as quiet and reserved by those who knew him.
From what we understand, the 25-year-old was a recluse, to say the least. On social media, he reposted videos from popular shows like The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, the COLORS show and meme videos.
He also has an affinity for self-motivation quotes and poems. Perhaps, in what’s turned out to be quite bizarre, Pasile’s favourite quote is from Katherine Mackennett’s poem which reads:
Now, every time I witness a strong person I want to know What dark did you conquer in your story? Mountains do not rise without earthquakes.
A quiet and unpopular gentle giant, Pasile comes across as a normal adolescent that kept to himself and enjoyed adult contemporary music. Much like in this video clip he posted nine days before his girlfriend was brutally hacked and sawed to death.
According to friends of his from Mdantsane, Pasile held no visible interest in women back when he was a pupil at Buchule Technical High School.
It’s believed the motive behind Mtebeni’s death is linked to jealousy, however, this information and more will be revealed as the case continues in court.
