A home invader was caught on security footage breaking into a house in Pretoria East while the occupants were fast asleep.
Watch: CCTV captures brazen Pretoria East home invader in action
The suspect, who entered through a front-facing window, spent just over two minutes rummaging through the property before leaving with an item of value.
The chilling break-in occurred at 01:57 on Tuesday morning, and police are now searching for the unmasked suspect, whose face was clearly captured in the video.
The CCTV footage, recorded in night vision, shows the suspect gaining access to the home through a window at the front of the property.
Calm and seemingly unbothered, the intruder moved through a lounge or TV area, picking up and discarding several electronic boxes—possibly empty—while searching for valuable items.
After a brief search in the dimly lit room, the suspect spotted an object on a table, quickly grabbed it, and exited the house through the same window he had entered.
At the time of the break-in, the occupants of the house were reportedly asleep and unaware of the intruder’s presence. They only discovered the incident the following morning when they reviewed their security footage.
The video, which clearly shows the suspect’s unmasked face, has been handed over to authorities and is expected to play a crucial role in the investigation.
When this article was published, it’s believed the suspect was still at large and an investigation is presumably underway.
