A jewelley store in Lenasia, Johannesburg, was accosted by an unknown number of armed robbers, on Monday afternoon and the entire ordeal was captured on CCTV.
Watch: Lenasia jewellery store robbed
Footage of the dramatic scenes inside the store was posted on social media by renowned crime anchor Yusuf Abramjee. In the clip, at least six armed men were seen actively involved in the robbery.
Five of the suspects jumped over the counter and with little time on their hands, grabbed whatever they could and threw it into a black carrier bag.
Only three store employees were seen in the footage, huddled in a corner with their heads buried beneath their hands, hoping and praying that the robbers conduct their business without harming any of them.
The ordeal lasts for about two minutes before the video ends as the employees get up on their feet, visibly distressed and in shock.
Here is the footage that’s since gone viral on social media:

This is not the first time a jewellery store robbery has been reported in Lenasia. In June 2020, similar scenes were witnessed at a store in Trade Route Mall, where five armed suspects entered the shop and ran it clean of its precious stones.
Coincidentally, the store that was hit up in 2020 looks strikingly similar to the one that was robbed on Monday. However, this and other details related to the incident, we could not confirm at the time this article was published.
This is a developing story.
