Watch: Gauteng police save alleged hijacker from angry mob [video]

If it was not for the swift reaction of police, this alleged hijacker would have died at the hands of the Riverlea community.

If there is one thing this alleged hijacker will be thankful for, it’s the Gauteng police’s swift reactions in saving his life from an angry mob which — as you will see in this video — was thirsty for his blood.

Renowned microblogger @crimeairnetwork posted this video on Twitter, which shows an unidentified male attacked by a group of people.

While there has been no official statement from authorities, we are inclined to believe the reputed claims of the microblogger. It’s alleged that the man being attacked in the video was involved in a hijacking.

Scores of onlookers from the predominantly mixe-raced Riverlea community were out to witness mob justice being served to a person linked to a string of violent crimes.

The burden of proof was something the mob cared very little for. In their eyes, they knew that it was this male suspect who has terrorised the community, taunting victims with firearms and making off with their prized vehicles.

The suspect was already being attacked, punched in the face and pelted at close range with bricks before armed officers rushed to the scene to cordon off the mob from the injured suspect.

The man believed to be the hijacker was placed in cuffs and escorted away from a very tense situation that could have ended in his life being taken.

At this time, it is not known if the suspect is facing any criminal charges linked to the accusations made against him.
