Rosemary Nomia Ndlovu, the former South African police officer serving six life terms for killing her relatives, is back in court over fresh murder plot charges.
Rosemary Nomia Ndlovu back on the dock: Here’s why
On Wednesday, Ndlovu appeared at the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court, alongside a woman named Nomsa Mudau. As reported by Times Live, the former police-officer-turned-serial-killer is on the docks for her alleged role in the murder plot of Nomsa’s ex-husband, Justice Mudau.
In 2018, Justice filed charges related to conspiracy to commit murder against his wife and Ndlovu after a man who identified himself as a hitman informed him of the plot against his life.
This, it turned out, was the same man who foiled Ndlovu’s six-year killing spree that saw five of her relatives and a lover murdered for a cumulative R1.4 million insurance payout.
At the time, Ndlovu was an officer at the Norkem police precinct and had struck up a friendship with Nomsa. The women, according to Justice, allegedly masterminded the murder plot after Ndlovu enticed Nomsa about the fruits of cashing in on an insurance policy.
While this plot was never seen through, Justice believes his ex-wife would have received at least R3 million if the alleged hitman had not grown a conscience.
This disturbing case, however, is not the only reason why Ndlovu is back on the docks.
The serial killer faces two other charges related to a murder plot she allegedly orchestrated against two of her former colleagues: Sergeant Keshi Mabunda who was the lead investigator in her familicide case, and Colonel Nthipe Boloka, the station commander of the police precinct she once worked at.
Ndlovu may attempt to wiggle her way out of this one but investigators have gathered enough evidence to prove that the serial killer made threats to bury Mabunda’s son alive, and attempted hits on the officers.
Ndlovu is serving six life term at the Kgosi Mampuru C-Max facility.
