Quinton Malibe died for using a neighbour’s Wi-Fi
According to reports, the altercation began when Quinton was caught using the Wi-Fi of his neighbours, the Lekobo family, without their permission.
Quinton was near the gate of the Lekobo residence when he was discovered accessing their internet.
The teen was severely beaten and subsequently admitted to Matikwane Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries due to internal bleeding.
The hospital confirmed that despite their efforts, Quinton’s condition worsened, leading to his untimely death.
His mother refused to open a case
In the aftermath of the assault, Quinton’s mother was advised to file a police report against the attackers.
However, she chose not to pursue legal action, citing her lack of resources and fear of the legal process.
Living in poverty and without the support of Quinton’s father, she expressed her reluctance to engage in a court battle she felt she could not afford.
Her decision was influenced by her belief that justice might not prevail and her concerns about the emotional toll it would take on her.
Quinton’s mother said:
“I rather allow the government to bury my son as he knows we were both suffering together. I will soon meet him because I can’t live without him. His father doesn’t care, I don’t even know where he is now! I’ve no access to him.”

Despite the initial reluctance of Quinton’s mother, his father stepped in and opened a case with the Mkhuhlu police.
This led to the arrest of Docus Lekobo and his two brothers, who were identified as the individuals responsible for the assault.
The family’s grandchild, who had given Quinton access to the Wi-Fi, revealed during questioning that he had been too scared to disclose the information to his parents.
The Lekobos defended their actions by stating that they did not intend to kill Quinton but merely wanted to correct him for using their Wi-Fi without permission.
The suspects appeared briefly in court for a bail hearing on Monday.
Quinton Malibe will be laid to rest on Sunday at Mashonamini.
