Nyanga Junction murder: Woman killed by stray bullet
Details around the incident are still very sketchy. However, social media was abuzz, on Monday, after images surfaced showing the lifeless body of a woman strewn on the sidewalk of the popular junction.
The woman was holding an umbrella, on account of Cape Town’s wet and torrential weather, when she was struck by a bullet. When police and emergency officials arrived at the scene, the interior of the umbrella was soaked in brain matter.
In a statement to Swisher Post, spokesperson Colonel Andre Traut confirmed police are investigating “the circumstances surrounding the death of an unknown female in her thirties.”
“She was shot and killed [on Monday] afternoon at around 14:25 in NY3A Gugulethu,” Colonel Traut confirmed.
At this time, homicide detectives have yet to make an arrest and, as things stand, “the motive is yet to be established.”

This is a developing story.
The death of the pregnant Nyanga Junction shopper comes three weeks after five victims were targeted at random by a shooter at the Gugulethu transit district.
According to Manenberg police spokesperson Ian Bennett, two women, aged 50 and 52 and three men between the ages of 35 and 41 were injured in a mass shooting that took place at a taxi rank in Duinefontein Road.
The suspect behind this incident remains at large.
