Ntobeko Nkosi body found: Here’s what we know
Ntobeko, a resident of Garankuwa, outside Pretoria in Gauteng, was last seen leaving her home to go to school.
According to her father, Collen Mashilwane, Ntobeko never reached her school that day.
Mashilwane told reporters that Ntobeko had bunked school to visit friends.
“She never made it to school; instead, she bunked school and went to visit her friends. Her friends told us that they went to the park, where they met up with other boys from the same school. They claimed that they separated in the afternoon when everyone was going home. My Ntobeko never made it back home and her cellphone was off. We tried looking for her to no success,” Mashilwane recounted.
Despite extensive efforts by the community to locate Ntobeko, their search yielded no results until last Sunday when they received the devastating news.
“It was not until Sunday that we received a call informing us that she had been found, but unfortunately, she was no more. When we went there, we found her body dumped in an open field,” Mashilwane said.
In a particularly gruesome detail, Mashilwane added that Ntobeko’s eyeballs were missing.
Gauteng SAPS Spokesperson Colonel Noxolo Kweza confirmed the incident.
“Akasia police are investigating an inquest docket after the girl was found in extension 4. She was reported missing in May 2024. At this stage, allegations that she was mutilated cannot be confirmed,” Kweza stated.
The police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Ntobeko’s death and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
