Agreement Tumelo Molapo, a 23-year-old from Nkaning in Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga, has been missing for three days and worries are growing over her safety.
Mpumalanga woman disappears at shopping mall
According to police spokesperson Brigadier Leonard Hlathi, Molapo was with her aunt at a Bushbuckridge shopping centre, the day she was last seen alive.
The pair were running errands when Molapo allegedly informed her aunt that “she was going to see a friend who reportedly called her and requested that they meet.”
Thinking nothing of it, the aunt parted ways with her niece, unaware that this would be the last time she saw her alive. Mpumalanga authorities have ramped up the search efforts for the 23-year-old, in a race against time to locate her.
At this time, the case is being treated as a missing person investigation but concerns were raised when the supposed friend denied making such arrangements with Molapo, on Monday.
“Molapo’s friend, who is said to have made arrangements earlier to meet up with her, also denied having seen her, let alone knowing anything concerning her whereabouts,” Brig. Hlathi explained.
Particulars that could jog a memory
Thus far, police have not confirmed if any foul play was found in the friend’s version of events.
A tough job lies ahead for investigators. Somewhere between the moment Molapo parted ways with her aunt at the shopping complex and the direction she took to head where she claimed she was going, lies the truth about her whereabouts.
With little else to go with, police have turned to the public for help. The last time she was seen alive, Molapo was wearing blue denim jeans, a blue t-shirt and sandals.
At this time, police have not provided further identifiers.
“Anyone with information that can assist in finding her, can contact Detective Warrant Officer Nicol Setwane at 072 906 8621,” Brig. Hlathi concluded.
