An alleged home invasion, perpetrated by at least three armed men, left a family in Lenasia, Gauteng, mortified, and the entire ordeal was captured on CCTV.
Watch: Lenasia home invasion caught on CCTV
South African police had not returned to our requests for comment at the time this article was published. Therefore, the condition of the victims who, on Wednesday morning, were rocked by the brazen ambush, is not known.
From what we understand, however, authorities probing the alleged home invasion will be looking for a white Volkswagen Polo sedan with GP registration plates.
In the footage, the vehicle was seen parked outside the resident’s driveway, at approximately 10:03, on Wednesday morning.
A tall male figure, dressed in a white, red and black golf shirt, black trousers and maroon cap, casually strolled into the property, completely unassuming.
However, by then, two of his assailants were already inside the house. After about 40 seconds, two men emerged from the house, one of them carrying an obscure object.
A third man rushed from behind and, in a hurry, the suspects jumped into the vehicle and sped off.
From what we could make out from the muffled voices heard in the video, one of which is presumed to belong to one of the victims, there is a strong belief that the alleged home invasion may have been an inside job, possibly orchestrated by someone known to the residence.
The woman’s voice could be heard saying that the men came in the house demanding money, and bizarrely, they knew where it was kept.
It’s unclear how much the suspects made off with and, at this time, it’s believed the alleged home invaders are still at large.
