Tesla’s response to the Cybertruck explosion
Tesla CEO Elon Musk took to X (formerly Twitter) to address the incident. Musk stated that initial findings suggest the explosion was not caused by a malfunction in the vehicle.
“The explosion was caused by very large fireworks and/or a bomb carried in the bed of the rented Cybertruck and is unrelated to the vehicle itself,” Musk wrote.
He also confirmed that “all vehicle telemetry was positive at the time of the explosion.”
Earlier, Musk shared that Tesla’s senior team was fully engaged in investigating the matter.
“We’ve never seen anything like this,” he said, promising to provide more updates as additional information emerges.
Law enforcement continues to sift through evidence at the scene to determine the circumstances surrounding the explosion.
No arrests have been reported, and investigators have not disclosed whether they believe the incident was a targeted attack.
