Law enforcement authorities in Langlaagte, Johannesburg, have cordoned off the corner of Edison and Calvin Road, after a cash-in-transit (CIT) van was robbed, on Friday morning.

At this time, police have yet to release information on the suspects involved in the brazen heist that left a trail of destruction at the industrial park.
An explosive was detonated and the robbers made their way into the rear-end of the money truck, making off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

New details reported by renowned microblogger @crimeairnetwork suggest that the suspects involved in the CIT heist have been killed in a shootout that took place shortly after the robbery.
From what we understand, four suspects were killed by police and one other surrendered himself.

It’s unclear, at this time, if the stolen money was recovered.
Joburg records two CIT heists on Friday morning
About 18km east, in Bram Fischerville, Soweto, another money truck heist was reported. At this time, no further details have been reported from the crime scene and it remains unknown if the two incidents are related.
