Another mass shooting was reported in the United States (US) this past weekend, and this time around, it all unravelled at a church in Laguna Woods, California.
Laguna Woods mass shooting: Who is the suspect?
Only a day had gone by since the tragic Buffalo mass shooting that claimed the lives of 10 victims, when Orange County sheriffs were called out to the Geneva Presbyterian Church situated on El Toro Road, a few minutes before 13:30, ABC7 reports.
Inside the church, six victims were found with gunshot wounds. While five of the injured churchgoers were rushed to a nearby medical facility for emergency treatment, one victim was not so fortunate.

Not much information is available on the identities of the victims, but from what we understand, four of them were men, and the fifth was a woman, all of Asian descent and senior age.
The suspect responsible for the shooting was taken down by brave churchgoers, the police confirmed in a statement. Responding officers found him hogtied by the legs with an extension cord.
Churchgoers had already searched the man and removed two loaded weapons. It seems, more than likely, the suspect had every intention of unloading his guns on as many victims as he could target.
“At this time, we do not know what the suspect’s motive may be or whether he had an intended target, or whether this is even a hate-related incident,” Orange County Undersheriff Jeff Hallock said at a press briefing held on Sunday.
The suspect’s identity has yet to be revealed but, from what we know thus far, police have placed an Asian man, believed to be in his 60s, in custody.
It’s unclear, at this stage, if the suspect resides in the area of the shooting or, much like Payton Gendron, he came from elsewhere to carry out the mass shooting.
This is a developing story.
