Ebrahim Moosa, a well-known businessman from Kariega, has been rescued by police less than 24 hours after he was kidnapped outside his workplace.
Ebrahim Moosa survives horror abduction
Moosa, who was abducted in broad daylight on Tuesday, was found alive in Kwazakele during an overnight police operation.
Eastern Cape police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg confirmed the rescue but stated that Moosa is currently receiving medical attention, and further details cannot be disclosed due to the ongoing investigation.
The shocking abduction was captured on CCTV footage, showing the moment Moosa was forcibly taken.
According to police reports, at approximately 10:00, the 74-year-old arrived at his business premises on Cuyler Street, Kruisrivier.
As he pulled in, an unknown vehicle followed him onto the property and blocked his car. Three armed men quickly exited the vehicle and forced him into a double-cab LDV before speeding away in an unknown direction.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the motive behind the kidnapping, nor have they revealed whether a ransom demand was made.
Following the abduction, Eastern Cape police launched an extensive search, mobilising multiple units to locate Moosa. By late Tuesday night, intelligence gathered led officers to a location in Kwazakele, where he was successfully rescued.
While details of the rescue remain under wraps, officials have assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that no arrests have been made yet.
Moosa’s dramatic rescue occurred on the same day that nine-year-old Emaan Fatima, who was kidnapped outside her East London school, was safely reunited with her family.
Emaan, who was taken last week while walking home, was released on Wednesday morning after her parents paid a ransom.
Her case sparked widespread community outrage, with planned protests demanding action from authorities.
