Gabrielle Petito or Gabby Petito is an American YouTuber. Her family reported her as missing on Saturday, 11 Saturday 2021.
What we know about her road trip
Petito was a nutritionist who quit her job to travel the country. She and her boyfriend, Brian Laundrie both agreed that they would road trip cross-country together. The couple travelled to national parks west in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming. The pair drove and lived in their van.
During the trip, there was a domestic violence report. On Thursday,12 August 2021 officers responded to potential domestic violence between the two. Petito and Laundrie had been arguing all morning. The argument had led to them getting physical. Laundrie pushed Petito to create distance after she had hit him.
Police separated the couple for a day to calm down. However, they got back together.
Why Gabby Petito was reported missing
The couples road trip was cut short when Laundrie returned home alone. Laundrie had returned on Wednesday, 1 September 2021. Petito’s family had not heard from her for many days. They then reported her as a missing person on Saturday 11 September 2021.
Petito’s last Instagram post was on Thursday, 26 August 2021. The last time Petito contacted her family was on Monday 30 August 2021. She told her mother that there was no cell service in Yosemite. Additionally, her family’s lawyer told Insider, that the mother doesn’t think her daughter sent that message.
Has Gabby Petito been found?
Law enforcement found a body in Bridger-Teton national forest, Wyoming, United States on Sunday 19 September 2021. Police say that the body matches the description of Petito. Although a full forensic identification needs to take place to determine if it’s the missing person. Following the discovery, the 22-year-old’s family was notified.
The cause of death is still unknown. Police have named Laundrie a ‘person of interest’. Laundrie has refused to cooperate with the police. Apart from this, things took an unexpected turn when Laundrie’s family admitted that their son has been missing since Tuesday, 14 September 2021.
