The arrest, conducted on Friday, 13 December 2024, was part of a joint investigation led by South African authorities, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Department of Homeland Security.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), thus far, three victims have been identified in the case, with authorities working to trace an additional six potential victims.
The investigation also led to the arrest of a 49-year-old Vanderbijlpark man on Thursday, 12 December 2024.
Law enforcement alleges the suspect sexually groomed, assaulted, and raped his girlfriend’s 15-year-old daughter.
The arrest followed information received through an international tip line and involved a multidisciplinary team comprising South African investigators and US authorities.
Electronic devices believed to contain explicit material involving children were seized during both arrests.
These devices are undergoing forensic analysis to strengthen the cases against the suspects.
Both men are set to appear in court on Tuesday, 17 December 2024.
The former principal will face charges at the Pretoria Central Magistrates’ Court, while the Vanderbijlpark suspect will appear at the Vanderbijlpark Magistrates’ Court.
Prosecutors have confirmed they will oppose bail in both matters.
